Ideal for extensive documents
For doctoral theses, dissertations, and other unbound articles, Lead-Print DRUCKSHOP customers can from now on take advantage of this new module: with the automatic colour page proofing for CMYK and RGB, the renowned web-to-print supplier now offers its customers the option to check uploaded PDF documents for the corresponding number of colour pages during the ordering process.
A special highlight: proofing in RGB colour space/h4>
As the first to offer the service within the German-speaking region, Lead-Print is advancing the recognition for RGB black and RGB grey. The reason for this was our expanding customer base of copy shops and digital printers. The most frequently used program, Microsoft Word, automatically converts all images and text into an RGB colour space and offers no option for colour separation. These Word documents are not recognised by conventional colour page proofs for CMYK. This is where the new Lead-Print module for RGB colour spaces comes into its own.
Standard: Interpretation of CMYK
Uploaded PDF files are created using a wide range of programs. Due to their varying colour conversions, the Lead-Print colour page proofing offers different options for reading colour pages in the CMYK profile. One of these options is to “treat identical CMYK colour values as black-and-white”. Here, a page is recognised as non-colour when C, M, Y and K are all set to zero or have the same value.
The module in detail
During the order process, the customer has the option to upload a PDF file. This PDF is checked for its colour page count by Lead-Print immediately after uploading. After the calculation, both the total number of pages and the number of colour pages are output and automatically used for the calculation in digital printing. The user has the option to overwrite these values, but they receive warnings and notifications in the case that the submissions don’t match the system-determined values. If a page value of 0 is submitted by the user, the page count is replaced with the automatically calculated value. The customer nevertheless has the option to proceed with the order.
